Lauralee Sikorski - Muralist and Fine Artist

It seems to me that Art is choice that was made for me. I find it nearly painful not to create. More often than not, when I am creating I have no real sense of time passing, a 10 hour day can passs in what seems like 10 blinks of an eye. For awhile that frightened me..to go to a place within me that time doesn't exist. I have since learned that this is a great gift, that what is created when I am able to let go is something that has never existed in exactly that way ever before. I find now that my process of creating art is a journey to get to the one place that I spent so much "time" being afraid of. A place of origin. A vehicle to originality: defined in the dictionary as the power of independent thought or constructive imagination.

Art remains my greatest teacher... of acceptance, of the beauty of our differences, the exquisite beauty inherent in the fact that there is no limit to the range of our feelings... and there fore no limits in the creation, expression and appreciation of art. It is a great metaphor for life - to the extent that we can appreciate all art in it's many forms we are able to see all of life through those same eyes. Seeing not just the person , place or canvas infront of us but the truth of it, the amazing gift of it, the fact that it is as we are...
as all of nature is.. UNIQUE unto itself.

LL Sikorski

Lauralee Sikorski's recent works exhibit a skillfull transcendence of styles and genres.
Working intuitively in a broad variety of media, the works evoke a diverse range of
emotions while hinting at intriguing possibilities of the stories within.

Her use of color plays a vital role in creating the feeling or mood of each work and, gives
us our first "clues" as to where they may be taking us. Innovative abstraction, sometimes
playful or whimsical, somtimes somber or serene, is another essential component of their
success.

The spiritual nature of these works is also readily apparent which, I believe, allows the
viewer easy entry into her artistic vision and thereby, her world. The rapid evolution we've
recently seen in her works holds the promise of even more illuminating journeys in the
future.
